So I edited a practice car chase and I would love to know 1) If I've managed to create the story I was trying to tell (take a guess!) and 2) anything else (barring something super mean like "Never edit again"). Thanks for the feedback, guys!
P.S. Make sure to watch with sound on.

Whitney Moore, as you said it's a practice car chase scene. It's also an excellent advertisement for "brand name", there are technicalities to be added, like more camera shots, and camera angles, along with more drama to the music, all to which you can obviously quickly catch up on. I'm sure there'll be more comments to help enhance ideas and my comment..

Eon C. Rambally Thanks! Oh how I wish I had those other camera angles.

Whitney Moore, one simple camera adjustment should be, the one mounted on (what looks like the outside on the top of the windscreen, filming basically the driver's view) should be angled more upwards for better, cinematic view or cinematography, which includes the aid of storyboarding. Look up additional info. However experience is also required.

I think you did a great job on the edit, Whitney Moore. I understood the car chase, but I didn't understand the end (the lady ending up where she started). Was the chase all in her head (like a practice run)?

Maurice Vaughan Oh wow I didn't actually notice she ended up where she started lol. She just gets away. If I had had the footage of course it would have been more obvious of a getaway. But I was also determined to use this limited footage and do something with it just for the challenge of it all.

@Eon C. Rambally I didn't shoot the footage I actually got it from somewhere that gave practice footage for people to use. But I appreciate the notes for when/if I ever do get to shoot something like this.

I understand, Whitney Moore. Great work, especially with limited footage.

Ty Strange I found it at Cinestudy. https://cinestudy.org/2019/11/26/interactive-project-edit-a-car-chase/
This is the link to the actual car chase footage but they have other stuff there too. I'm not sure I'll be returning to their stuff myself.

I think you did very well, and I'm assuming you shot this gorilla style (no permits, no closed streets?) I would say it would have been nice to have a few more cut away shots, maybe tires squelching (mount a GoPro on the fenders) and at least one shot from inside of the Mac Truck,. I would play more with sound design too, you can cheat a lot with proper audio cues, but overall, nicely done.

It's a good effort. Needs a bit more snap, more angles, quicker cuts and a sense of danger and trajectory.
Viewers will notice putting the car in Park in the middle of the chase and the lack of continuity between highway and city streets, semi behind the vehicle then not. It's glaring.

The main thing I noticed is, the shots looking back at the red BMW are down town, the shots looking from the driver's point of view, more or less, are in a rural area and the car seems to have changed color to black.

I love Studiobinder, and I think this might be of some help.
