ST: “We may have heard the scene 20 times and it doesn’t make sense, and then that one person comes in and they read the scene with you and you go, “I know what this scene is about.”

I'm not an actor, Tammy Hunt, but I've heard this advice before as a writer, and I've experienced it. I didn't get screenwriting jobs, but the producers, directors, etc. stayed in contact with me/told me to stay in contact with them. And sometimes it led to other jobs. I see those as victories, and sometimes the other jobs are better than the first ones.

Ooo, SUCH good advice in here! I love, "Always remember you’re not being rejected, you just didn’t get that job." Winning the room is a great achievement as well!
Also, "We’re all in this because we love to tell stories, so what makes me remember an actor is an actor who went in to tell the story, not the actor who is in there because of the ego." is fantastic as well! Anyone who can take you on a journey is worth listening to.
And that last one, "I know what this scene is about" is such a good point! As an actor, you really have to decode the character AND the context. Without that deep dive, no one else and be on the journey with you, either. Thank you, Tammy Hunt!
Actually, I have a question for you, Tammy - I noticed that you represent both actors AND writers. I have a Talent Manager friend who has several clients who also write, and she's hoping to expand into repping them as a Lit Manager as well. Any advice on how to rep one person in both capacities?
