Acting : Sarah Paulson on acting… by Geoff Hall

Sarah Paulson on acting…

a lazy share for a lazy Saturday...

Maurice Vaughan

Sarah Paulson is one of my favorite actresses, Geoff Hall. Yeah, as creatives, we can't mimic others. We have to be ourselves. I used to write other genres because other writers were writing them and because of trends, but it was tough to write those scripts since I wasn't a Romantic writer, Drama writer, etc.

Geoff Hall

Maurice Vaughan we have to forget about trends and be true to who we are, Maurice. That’s the only way to perform or write, or direct.

Emily Burrage

In my younger days I would have done things a lot different and may not be as true to myself as I could have been but now as an actor I have learnt with thanks to my teacher and to my scene partners to trust myself more and be true to how I think and feel it should be going. It feels a lot more free than restricting yourself.

Greg Wong

I've heard it referred to as 'authentic voice' when it comes to a performance or writing. If one is not passionate about the material, I suspect being able to write within the genre would be difficult.

Richard "RB" Botto

That's some quality wisdom right there, Geoff Hall

Ashley Renee Smith

Great share, Geoff Hall! I think that it's so normal for creatives to try to model themselves after the people who came before them and whom they admire, but the art that we create is unique because we're unique. The more we give into what is great and different about ourselves, the more that art will shine and find its place in the world.
