Looking for a sales agent for a Christmas RomCom

I’m a Colorado-based director/producer thrilled to be wrapping post on a feature (Christmas RomCom, family- and faith-friendly). It’s been quite a journey over the last couple years, what with a certain pandemic and all. I’d love to meet any sales agents out there who’d be interested in representing this film!

Hi Tim Nolte - congratulations!! LYING TOGETHER looks awesome! What an amazing accomplishment. I recommend Michelle Alexandria's Stage 32 class on navigating distribution and finding the right team for your film - Michelle is really terrific and has a wealth of actionable steps in this class that you'll find useful: https://www.stage32.com/classes/Navigating-Distribution-Finding-the-Righ...

Thanks Sam! I’ll take a look.

I was a sales agent /distributor for decades and now consult for a domestic company. What are your goals for the film? That's most important. Two ideas 1) You can go to the IFTA website under membership and check out all the companies that will be looking for films for the AFM. Most are excellent...our company handles domestic so let me know if you want to get in touch with them. They have been around 30 years. The artwork is really great. Pat

Congrats. That looks great!

Hi Pat, thanks for the insight, and for the compliment about the artwork! While of course we’d love to be the next My Big Fat Greek Wedding, realistically our goal for the film is to sign an exclusive 3-5 year North American license with a streamer that specializes in the genre (GAF, PureFlix, Up Faith and Family are good fits), and a longer term deal with an international distributor. Are you recommending going to AFM ourselves? From what I’ve heard, going to a film market with a single film doesn’t really work—that it’s better to find a sales agent with existing connections pitching a slate of films. I’d certainly be interested in talking with your company to see if they’re a good fit!

First, My Big Fat Greek Wedding was produced by Tom Hanks' wife with him also involved. Prior to its release, they were on Oprah announcing its theatrical reaching an immense audience within minutes.

It's a great film but it had major players behind it so you cannot compare.. Brilliant marketing.

AFM- I believe I said to go to the AFM/IFTA website and look under membership to see what companies will be attending to contact them to see if they'd rep your film internationally. It's a great resource. Without the revenues that I used to get from DVD, I would not recommend paying for an office in this environment there with only one film. I used to licensed small indie films with budgets under 100K for US DVD for $500k alone. Times have changed.

Lastly, something to consider, if a company wants all rights, they may just hand of domestic rights off to another company and then in that case, you 'll have two commissions deducted and you may be okay with that. Dylan is at All CHannel FIlms and I told him about you so feel free to contact him ....Dylan@AllChannelFIlms. net ....Good luck...
