I've been working as a storyboard artist for a while now, mainly on commercials, but I have been wanting to break into features. I've noticed a pattern regarding gigs; the summer is pretty slow. But this year has been extra brutal. I've had maybe 2 gigs in the last 3 or 4 months, and they were small spots from past clients. Is the seasonality like that for feature work as well?
Has the strike affected your getting work? I want to think that it's a combination of the two, but I don't know many other storyboard artists to ask and compare notes.

Hey Douglas Brown! You were missed at this month's Austin meetup. I hope you're doing well! I'm so glad that you put yourself out there in this way. The strike has definitely made an impact on slowing things down this summer and I'm sorry that you've been feeling that weight. We actually have a fantastic professional storyboard artist here on Stage 32, Mark Simon (https://www.stage32.com/marksimon). You should reach out to Mark directly and ask him for advice. He's a fantastic resource.

Yea I was working consistently for a few years then all of a sudden it went dry. Im in animation I dont knoow what its like for live action. But big companies like Netflix and Amazon shit canned alot of shows because they had an over abundance of shows. It greatly affected our jobs. Now theres nothing right now. Alot of people I know working in directors positions told me they had to fire a bunch of their crew. Its suppose to pick up in the fall.

Douglas Brown it's a good subject you brought to discussion. Storyboarding is one of services, I wanted to advertise "Pre-pandemic". With relevant distractions, however I included it as part of my film production, in the form of "characters and speech bubbles". along with animations and more as a production ( working on extending to a feature film). I've provided the link below, as ideas and opinions to venture into. Ashley Renee Smith it's really great to see your efforts! Andria Besancon interesting situations of concerns generally, I've provided the link below, just for general discussions and opinions. Best! https://www.stage32,com/media/3119093432593689856

I do storyboarding for myself mostly, but I would not consider myself a storyboard artist, I do however work with a few whenever doing my animated projects.
