I was wondering if it is something that is done/acceptable to put together short episodes of an independent web series into a short film to be able to fit into Short Film category of Film Festivals? Web series seem to be a significantly less represented category in Festivals. I have sci-fi/dystopian web series I am planning to put online in September, I was thinking if I could cast a wider net in terms of festivals for it if I perform this transformation. Obviously, if I release it, I will have to look at festivals that accept films that have been released, but at least I won't be locked in the obscure web series category...

it's all acceptable. film festivals are a fickle bunch. you never know what they're looking for or who's even looking.
