Introduce Yourself : What if we talked a bit more about documentaries? by Davide Ludovisi

What if we talked a bit more about documentaries?

Hello everyone, I've just realized that I haven't introduced myself to the community. My name is Davide Ludovisi, and I've been a journalist for over twenty years, primarily focusing on science communication. For the past four years, I've been working on documentaries, and I've completed four of them. You can find more information about them here: https://www.davideludovisi.com/en/documentari. I've covered topics related to immigration, literature, and paleontology.

Starting this month, I'm also beginning a Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of Padua in Italy. My research project will focus on understanding the relationship between international film festivals and non-fiction scientific films, and how distribution, particularly streaming platforms, are influencing festival selections and, consequently, the production of scientific documentaries. I've noticed that Stage 32 doesn't often discuss documentaries, but I'm open to discussions and conversations on the subject if you're interested.

Hi Davide. Thanks for reaching out. I've been working as a story architect on documentaries and have trained filmmakers internationally on the power of narrative storytelling in non-fiction filmmaking. Perhaps others here feel passionate about documentary filmmaking at Stage 32. Best, Thomas

Welcome to the community, Davide Ludovisi. I like watching documentaries. Yours are on my watchlist now, especially BIG JOHN.

You can discuss documentaries in the Anything Goes Lounge (www.stage32.com/lounge/anything_goes). It's a place to discuss anything that's on your mind. Film, TV, theater, etc.

Welcome DAVIDE!

I find documentaries highly important in the film industry for the world's education process...best of luck in your endeavors. I'll be checking out those you created! Love to have you do one on my mothers life work!

.I have a good friend Alicia Davina who is preparing to create her first documentary to include to a few controversial subjects that have not ever been discussed concerning our dysfunctional adoption system. Maybe it's something you both might be able to work on together?

Also have another friend Fernando that wants to do a documentary about Mexico, where he comes from. Let me know if either of these subjects are of interest to you! I'll put you in contact with them.

Elena Maro

Hi Davide, so nice to welcome a compatriot to this fantastic community! I moved to LA in 2016, but I lived for a short period of time in Verona in the 90s. Just watched the trailers for your documentaries. Very interesting subject matters: congratulations and thank you for sharing those stories! On a lighter note, I love Trieste!

Davide Ludovisi

Well Nick, it's really hard to choose just one, but a documentary filmmaker I greatly admire is Laura Poitras.
