I've just spent several weeks using Chat GPT-4 to revise an old script I wrote many years ago, and I have to be honest, the experience has been absolutely amazing. Not only am I getting useful feedback, but the new DALL-E integration is providing me with photorealistic stills of the scenes as I write. I know there's a lot of anti-AI sentiment out there, but I have to ask if this is warranted. I've seen fully AI-generated content, and it's not good, but what AI is good at (at least right now) is helping writers improve their existing work. I really feel this is the equivalent of someone from 20+ years ago saying they won't use the internet for research and would rather go to a physical library because it "feels" right. So my question is, are there others out there embracing this technology? Because I can't see myself going back.

Hey, Mehul Desai. I don't see any need for AI when writing/rewriting a script. "I've seen fully AI-generated content, and it's not good, but what AI is good at (at least right now) is helping writers improve their existing work." I think it's better for writers to get better at rewriting than turning to AI for help. I wouldn't feel comfortable using Al to write/rewrite scripts, and I'll never use AI for those things.
I've been messing around with it. I find it to be pretty worthless as a writer. But I've had some success using it to suggest characters, do research, and brainstorm various things. I've tried ChatGPT and Bard. As a storyteller, both suck, IMHO.

My Stage 32 profile picture was retouched using AI. I like it for visuals. That DALL-E system sounds very interesting.

Hi Mehul, I started using AI a few weeks ago as my first language is Spanish. It's been a fantastic tool for enhancing my writing fluency on my projects. When I'm writing in Spanish, I don't need it.

Yes the loathing is warranted. I believe I have skill enough write a compelling story. If people believe that they lack that skill, let them use AI. But let’s not pay them. Since all they did was give instructions.
I can beat Usain Bolt over 100 meters, if I am in a motorbike, but should I get a gold medal? I mean I covered the distance quicker, who cares if I used a machine?
Now I expect people to split hairs and find ways of justify their effort of weakening the position fellow writers. That’s fine. Things like “motor bikes are writing” or “AI is used everyday in …” I don’t care.
Art is a measure of human endeavour and speaks of us as a society.
What I hope is that we do NOT begin to say “well in some situations…”. That thinking has led to horrors all through history, let’s not invite this on ourselves.
