That's great advice, Geoff Hall! I agree with Michael Caine. Actors, screenwriters, filmmakers, composers, etc. can use the difficulties, hardships, obstacles, etc. in their lives when they perform. And the performances will be more authentic and impactful because they're coming from a place of experience.
