Hi, Aaron Marcus. My main writing goal for 2024 is to sell 1 or 2 feature scripts. I also plan to read more scripts and books in 2024. I'll probably set other goals. Hope you achieve your goals in 2024!

Those sound like incredible goals. Really hope you reach them. Any thoughts about what you can do to help make them happen?

Thanks, Aaron Marcus. For my main writing goal, I'll do two things: Write micro-budget scripts (I'll have a bigger pool of producers, directors, etc. to pitch to because my scripts will be micro-budget) and continue to build relationships/network. One of my scripts might be low-budget though.
For my other goal (read more scripts and books), I'll set a certain number of scripts and books to read each month. I might start with 3 scripts and 1 book per month.

Will you be reading more scripts to see if you would like to option them and write a screen play, or just to learn more about script writing? How will you be finding new producers/directors for your scripts?
I'll be reading more scripts to learn from them, Aaron Marcus. I'll mainly be networking here on Stage 32 to find producers and directors.

Got it. Really hope you learn a lot this year.
Thanks, Aaron Marcus. I appreciate it. Hope you have an incredible 2024!
hi,maurice, Is there a market for these micro-budget scripts and can the producer or directors, etc. make money on them?

Loved the video Aaron Marcus . Had a great message behind it and appreciate the good wishes of health and peace. And yes, I agree that the small acts of kindness do spread and have great value. I really enjoy your videos so thank you for those. As for a goal?
#1 Love well. Spread kindness.
#2 Build relationships.
#3 I wrote a script for a short film that got really good notes so I'd like to see where that can go. There's a part of me that would like to play the main character in that short even though I don't have a lot of experience in acting.
#4 Obtain management for the screenplays that I've already developed so that I can have time for passion projects like the short script.
That's it! Thanks again for all you've done!

Jed, that is a great question for Maurice. Sometimes people will create and shoot micro-budget scripts just to get experience, add more to their resume and create a reel. I don't know about the financial end of small-budgeted projects.
On the actors side, we don't earn much. The last one I worked on only paid $125 for an 8-hour day. But, I was really glad I did the shoot. This can be a crazy business, one day I am working with Tom Hanks on A Man Called Otto, and making what I consider to be a lot and great residual fees (thanks to our new SAG-AFTRA contract) and another day making a little over $100.
This is just my feeling and not everyone feels the same way. I like to work and love trying new things. I will also make new industry contacts, even on small projects. The director of the low budget project might get to shoot an independent feature soon. I assume he liked my work, so why wouldn't he consider me if there is a role that is right for me.
Now, I don't just accept everything that comes along. But, typically, I don't make decisions on accepting or turning down a job based on money.
Thanks for asking such a great question.

Thank you Leonardo. Sounds exciting. Just be careful with adding yourself to the role. If you aren't great (and maybe you are) you don't want people not showing interest in your project because of the acting. Congratulations, and thank you so much for the kind words.

Great point, Aaron Marcus! I wouldn't want that either. Thank you!
There's a huge market for micro-budget scripts, Jed Power. Producers, directors, etc. can make money on micro-budget movies by getting them on streaming services, selling their movies at the American Film Market, and getting theater release for their movies (although I'm not sure how often micro-budget movies get released in theaters). There might be other opinions I don’t know about.
