New Screenplay!

Hello, guys how are you? My name is Marco Magiolo, I am a novelist and recently adapting some of my books to screenplays helped by another professional.

We have been working had and finally we have a nice project to pitch.

I am looking for a new agent, at this point, I am without representation for my books and screenplays.

Here a little bit of my two last projects:

My Daughter's Dog (Book published in 2023 - BestSeller)

Synopsis: Giuseppe Meazza, is a middle-aged Italian immigrant who lives in a poor neighborhood and works as a car mechanic. Raised in an extremely conservative way by his parents, he does not accept that his only daughter comes out as gay. Losing contact with her for years, one day he receives a call from a hospital saying that she had an accident and unfortunately did not make it. The only thing she had left was her dog, who had now become the last link between Giuseppe and his late daughter.

Ancient Clues: (book will be publish soon)

Synopsis: In the bustling streets of Miami, Dennis, a veterinarian leading a mundane life, has always carried the weight of an enigma from his past. When he was just a child, his mother mysteriously disappeared, followed by the abrupt vanishing of his father, who embarked on a relentless quest for answers. Raised by his loving grandmother, Denis learned to cope with the absence of his parents, but the questions surrounding their fates never ceased to haunt him.

As Denis delves deeper into the enigma that shrouds his family, he finds himself thrust into a whirlwind of conspiracy theories that stretch across the globe. From the ancient Nazca Lines of Peru to the cryptic remnants of the Maya civilization in Mexico, and from the hallowed halls of France to the historical mysteries of Italy and Israel, Denis's journey takes him to the heart of a clandestine world.

What you guys think? Any recommendations about where to go looking for new representation?

That is what I thought, but after selling more than 50 thousand copies from my first book series only with self publishing and 20 thousand with My Daughters Dog... Still hard to find a nice agent to take care of my career. But that is the process. I am very positive that we have something very special.

CJ Walley

It's tricky with books. A lot of producers have become really dubious of anything touted as a best seller because so many people are abusing that term so much. I watched a producer go through it with an author. We Googled the book and it had like twenty reviews, if that.

At the end of the day, the IP needs to be so well known the film can be put out there and tens of thousands of people not only recognise it but also want to see a film version of it.

Personally, if I had a best selling book, I'd be going straight to producers and not waiting for reps to come to me. The latter aren't anywhere near as proactive as people think.

when you figure out how to get an agent, that’s worth any thing, please let us know. I’m very curious. Generally speaking, agents and managers don’t want you unless you’re already making 100,000 here.

Marco Magiolo

That is the feeling I have. Now days, producers always negotiate with people that already achieved success in social media. Is not enough if you have a nice story or a little fan base. You need to have millions of followers and as Walley said, sell 100 thousand copies first. I feel an agent will push me for the next level, but on the other hand, I am doing pretty ok as a self publishing author. Lets keep selling and see if somebody look at us.
