I apply for film jobs everyday but haven’t had the professional experience to get in the business. I’ve been to film festivals, reached out to old professors, etc. and haven’t had luck. What should I do?
Hold on Josiah, if you are applying for Entry-Level Film Jobs, there is no experience required. Maybe you should reveal what Jobs you are looking for and I'm sure the appropriate professionals on here can help. Remember, just like Dialogue and the Character's Desire, the AUDIENCE responds to Specific Things (I want to win the Talent Show). The key point is the more SPECIFIC the Desire Line, the more the AUDIENCE will respond to your Story. Make Sense?
Hey, Josiah Bhola Hillaire. Great to see you again. You've been to film festivals and reached out to old professors. That's great. Keep doing those things and reach out to new people in the industry to build relationships/network. One perk of building relationships/networking is sometimes producers, directors, etc. will offer you jobs. Stage 32 has blogs on networking: www.stage32.com/blog/tags/networking-41
What type of jobs? If you want to be in production, working at a rental house is a good start. That's how many camera and lighting people start. You can also call up some of the small production houses around town that handle reality tv. They tend to have spots open for the night shift ingesting video footage. Other stuff might be hard due to being union.
Maurice Vaughan i haven’t been to film festivals in years and it’s a hard road. I’m trying to get my foot in the door when it comes to the industry and it’s hard
That’s the thing, Christopher Phillips. I’m looking for production jobs where I can learn anything and everything there is. I’m not only a screenwriter. I want to get a job in any field of the business so I can prosper and grow.
Do you have great scripts and reels in your portfolio? Reels of projects that you've worked on. Producers, directors, etc. will want to see those things before hiring you.

Stage 32 published new networking blogs that might help you out, Josiah Bhola Hillaire: www.stage32.com/blog/tags/networking-41
Sometimes networking takes time. You gotta keep networking/making new relationships and maintain your old relationships to see results.
I suggest checking the Job Board (www.stage32.com/find-jobs). It's updated regularly.
