Financing / Crowdfunding : Rodriguez action film fund by Laurie Ashbourne

Rodriguez action film fund

As I've been entrenched in new financing models lately, this popped up for me. Robert Rodriguez has always found a way to get films made; his Rebel without a crew mentality still permeates in his process with his huge studio films. (IMO SHORTS is one of the most underrated films out there when it comes to pure fun). So it's not surprising that he is taking financing to a new level. True, this is a trend that I am seeing a lot of, where people from all facets (distribution, sales, and investing) are creating genre specific film funds for slates that will effectively finance themselves. And now, one of the scrappiest directors out there is creating one for action films -- one of the most expensive genres there is.

I'm curious if anyone else is seeing film funds in their day to day interactions.

Here is the link to the video where he lays it out. https://youtu.be/BLUh4j1pvKQ?si=rEjP8w6zUBo_3y3M

Also, I have reached out to Troublemaker studios to try and get more detail on the fund itself.

Thanks for sharing, Laurie Ashbourne. I think Robert Rodriguez' Action Film Fund sounds like a great idea! Like you said, Action is one of the most expensive genres. I think Robert's "use what you got" approach and creativity will help keep the budgets low.
