How can a writer work with a production company?

Hi, this is the first time I've encountered a producer liking my treatment. The producer asked what types of collaborations with his production company I'm considering (I don't even know what they are). I'm a beginner, I have 0 experience. What do you recommend?

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Ksenia XX. You could collaborate with the producer by writing your treatment into a script that he produces, or you could collaborate with him by writing one of his ideas into a script.

Allan Air

You need to write the script, in format. Happy hunting.

We have a great webinar about this! https://www.stage32.com/education?p=8944858923315

Stephanie Moore!

Final Draft has a great setup for helping to get your formatting correct for production company work!

I suggest spending time giving thought to your ask; what do you want? Do you want to write the script based on your treatment? Do you want to co-write with them? Do you want them to create pitch material based on your treatment and run point on setting meetings with distribution outlets? Do you want them to get financing? Never hurts to dream and ask ;)
