Greetings all. 16 years ago my little brother, Donnie, (and by little I mean 6 years younger as he was an incredibly dynamic six foot two inch, muscle bound ex-football star-sag-actor) called me up from Los Angeles to ask me to write the screenplay for an idea he and I generated many years earlier. He had pitched the idea to a group of producers who proceeded to praise and encourage him to submit a full script. Donnie, being subject to the occasional delusion, still managed to spark my interest enough for me to procure a copy of Final Draft and begin the long research journey toward my first screenplay, an idea which turned out to be as interesting as we had hoped. It made the rounds in Hollywood thanks to an Israeli Gap-financer with deep and extensive connections. We got a lot of praise on it, eventually (My first page count was over 200 pages, hahaha!-- laughed the first major production company who assured me as interesting as the piece was, it had no chance until I got it down to 125.) Thus began my REAL education in screenwriting. After another year, I finally managed to get it to 125, at which point it truly did begin to get some traction, and hard-won accolades, in effect, establishing a niche for me as an expert on secret histories.
But it was enormously expensive and would have required major studio funding, so it eventually found the graveyard known as "Turn-around". But through the experience, I met a lot of high-level producers and caught the "bug". I've since completed 7 other properties, one which was recognized here at Stage 32 last year. Through that original screenplay, I met and befriended a high-level producer whose Hollywood career spans 50 long years and many amazing well-known films. He gave me a couple of his future properties and it turned out I had a talent for rewriting and editing his other properties, enough that he's been able to enhance them with a few major attachments and no small potential for eventual greenlights... though his last few films were tepid failures at the box office and I fear his advancing age and depleting energies may spell a closing of his fabulous, long career... so I suppose I'm forced to hit the reset button on everything, but I'm doing so with quite a few well-developed and award mentioned projects under my belt... both short and long in experience.
I'm happy to help anyone in anyway I can and anxious to find a new friend/manager/agent in a position to help advance my own efforts.
The pic is one of the last of my brother and I (He's the big blonde-blue-eyed Adonis on the right. Donnie passed away 2 years ago, his dream of becoming a producer stuck in his delusions, having never really recovered from the tragic failure of his stellar football career.
Fantastic origin story, Michael Mollick! Stage 32 is the right place to be as you hit the reset button on everything. Here's a blog that'll help you get around the platform: www.stage32.com/blog/navigating-stage-32-for-your-best-experience-3095
And I checked out your profile and didn't see much in your bio. A detailed bio will help you build relationships/network on here. You could add things to your bio like your goals, what movies and shows you like, and definitely part of your origin story.
