UK Indie Film Tax Credit becomes law “in nick of time” ahead of General Election

And so it came to pass, that the IFTC Bill became law and was given Royal Assent, “just in the nick of time”.

I’m not sure who will receive greater help, UK Indie Producers or International Producers of High-End TV and Film, but the Tax Credit is set at 40%.

Both. You need local talent, producers, support to make a UK film and you it helps to have US financial and distribution might - a very good combination that the government understands works very well for massive inward investment, employment, and entertainment industry growth and sustainability. Very good news indeed.

Jack Binder thanks Jack!

We have shot in the UK and found their subsidies quite reliable and helpful. However, we worked with a local UK producer to maximize them to include as many line items possible. Looking into UK companies that have obtained subsides on recent film could be advantages.

The tax credit, combined with newly built studios, presents an opportunity for independent filmmakers.
