Hey all- the weekend is upon us and I was curious to know if folks try to write over the weekend or take the time off. I go a little back and forth in my own habits. Or is it simply a matter of deadlines/inspiration striking?
Hey, Jared Michael Delaney. Sometimes I write on the weekend and sometimes I rest. It depends on the deadline and if I need to rest. Resting is just as important as writing. Burnout sucks.
@Jared I do both, take time out & write. Tomorrow I’m doing a wild rural hike way out of my comfort zone but on return be adrenalin fired aswell as appreciate comfort of my writing chair more. Depending upon serenity or jeopardy of the day a script is seen through fresh eyes.
Did some rewriting on "Serial Twins." Everytime I get new notes I make changes, but then, all at ones, I see new mistakes that I never saw before and weren't even critiqued by the reviewer. Critique somehow triggers my mind. Now it's finished, I hope--haha.
Lucky me. I write whenever I feel like it. No responsibilities. The days of cooking meals or taking the kids to school or entertaining a spouse are over! I have everything I always wanted: freedom. Except for the woke nonsense with it's 435,000 rules that try to regulate freedom of speech, that is, nobody tells me what I can write and what I can't.

Jared, I sure do write during a weekend...especially if I'm typing out a screenplay.

I am in the room with the people. If I am with my wife the iPad and the phone are away. The weekend is when I can carve out time. So that is gold.
Jules may be grooming our poodles. I’ll write. That gets me a few hours, they are big girls.

At least some time writing/rewriting every day; though sometimes just read and scribble notes in the margins ;-)
