Andy Byrne

Welcome Jos!

On the pitch deck side, funnily enough, earlier today here on Stage 32, was chatting with Maurice Vaughan about the use of reels for pitching.

I've only just dipped my toe in the reel world (accidental pun, but I'll run with it heh heh).

Figuring a reel has to be a more efficient and engaging means for pitching (plus look/feelbooks etc.).

What's your take, based on your experience?

And, btw... hope you have a great time on S32, Jos!

Jos Villegas

Andy Byrne thanks Andy! re sizzle reels for pitching, I find they are effective if you want/need to convey a mood/tone/visual style that’s better shown in AV vs static/deck. I think it’s important that the production values of the reel is in keeping with what you’d strive for the actual produced film as well so it adds to the pitch vs detracts. Overall if done well, I think reels are very impactful! hope that helps!

Andy Byrne

Absolutely helps, Jos Villegas. Excellent nuance you underscore there. Very much appreciated.

And totally agree, 'brand' consistency across artefacts around a project is vital. It's a challenging enough industry already without us tripping our own efforts up. Heh, heh.

William Joseph Hill

Welcome, Jos! Those are some very interesting project you've worked on. I learned Powerpoint when I temped at an aerospace company -- the engineers always created "pitch decks" for their programs, so there are many similarities between the industries.

Great to meet you Jos Villegas and congratulations on all of your success.

Jos Villegas

thank you Ashley Renee Smith!! I just posted on the screen writers lounge! And, yes, working on the first Deadpool was a lot of fun - it was a departure from the other X-Men films we released in its tone and a first for a character to break the 4th wall.Ryan was and is / continues to be a great sport and collaborator. Really looking forward to hearing more about everyone’s projects! The industry might be going through some challenges right now but everyone still enjoys a great story!!!
