I am currently finishing a script adaptation from a novel I optioned! I’m excited as it is my first feature length script and I will be producing and directing the film. I have made short films but am excited for the opportunity to step into the world of feature film. I also have a documentary circulating the film festivals this year which I am proud of! I am interested in speaking to managers at this time especially. Happy to make connections with other industry folk, thank you!

Congratulations Christina Capra - it's not every day that we get a glimpse into a director's first time directing a feature. I would suggest a blog post for Stage 32 after your victory is complete and teach us what you've learned. Hit up Ashley Smith https://www.stage32.com/ashleyreneesmith when the time is right. I, for one, would love to hear how it goes. All the best in EVERYTHING you do!

Good luck! I wonder If that book you’re holding is the one you are writing about because my mother was a real “Rosie the Riveter” who was assigned at Lockheed to rivet the very tips of bombers during WWII. She was small and very light, a requirement, but had to carry and use a large rivet gun and a heavy bucket of hot rivets. But, she did I it!

John William Blaney Poster Girls is about a diverse group of women in the 1940s who work at a munitions factory in the south assembling shells for bofor guns. The characters are aware of Rosie the Riveter and the main character, Maggie, is from Irish descent. Her real name is Maros (Rosemary).

Thanks! Interesting and good luck with it. Should be a great period piece. My mom’s name was May, so back in those days everyone at Lockheed in California called her “Mazie the riveter”.

This is exactly where I want to be down the road, except I also write novels and love the process of translating those projects for film. How did you decide this was a project you wanted to develop?

Jaye Viner I saw the book cover and was drawn in by the artistry initially. When I heard and understood the premise I knew I needed to read it. The story is uplifting, these women deal with racism and sexism at this wartime factory and the book celebrates their accomplishments.

Hi all, I wanted to update that I did in fact finish the screenplay a few months ago and since then I won Best Feature Screenplay at the Beaufort International Film Festival in SC! I posted my logline if anyone is interested in checking it out. I have had some great interest as I move into the funding phase so far, I wish for everyone to keep creating and growing. My film is a fresh take on the Rosie the Riveter era.
