Screenwriting : Poll! by Jodie Hewson

Poll!

POLL: I have an hour long formal pitch session for a half-hour comedy series with a network.

What's the ideal length for the "pitch?" They have our show bible/deck already.

Mike Rembis

If you are getting a whole hour use it to the max. Don't rush, tell your story your way, step by step, leading them down a path from episode one through season one, to season two, and all the way to the bitter end. If you are able to rapt attention and tell a compelling story where they don't shut you down, you win.

Mark Deuce

I agree Mike Rembis and best of luck with you pitch Jodie Hewson

Richard "RB" Botto

For a half hour comedy, I would aim for no more than 10-12 minutes. Especially since they already have the deck. This will give you time to get into the pilot, three seasons, and 4-5 character arcs and leave plenty of time for Q&A which is where the magic usually happens.

Knock 'em dead, Jodie Hewson!

Maurice Vaughan

Hope you have a great pitch, Jodie Hewson!

Sydney S

Good luck on your pitch!

Sam Sokolow

I agree with Richard "RB" Botto - I've been involved in many network/studio half hour comedy pitches and aiming for 10-12 minutes to present your pilot, world, and character arcs is spot on and then get into Q&A and discussion. Wishing you huge success with this, Jodie Hewson - please let us know how it goes.
