Took the Plunge! Pitch Session Experience

Hey everyone! I hope you're all well and your project developments are well, too.

Thought I'd share my experience with my recent Pitch Session! I've been wanting to do it for a very long time and finally mustered up the courage to go for it last month! It was invigorating, the exec fully connected with the material and I got a request for the script!

I highly recommend live pitching, especially video call not a voice call, over written pitching as you engage with the exec in real time, you can hit your story points strongly so the execs can feel and connect with your work. The execs want to like your material, after all you've dedicated precious time and effort. I had a blast, and I think I'm gonna do more pitches!

Wishing you all the very best in your writing journeys. Who knows, you reading this, we may work together in the future. Any questions I'm happy to answer.

Keep shining!

Darren

Congratulations on taking the plunge and getting a script request, Darren Yeboah! I've only done written pitches, but I plan on doing a live pitch next.

Hi Darren Yeboah, That's fantastic news! Glad to hear you had a great time during your Pitch Session a huge congrats on getting the script requested, that's an incredible feat! I highly recommend continuing Pitch Session and you can always email success@stage32.com for Exec recs!

Jason Mirch

Love to hear it Darren Yeboah! Such a great experience thank you so much for sharing.

Richard "RB" Botto

Thanks for sharing, Darren Yeboah. No doubt this is going to inspire many of the lurkers and introverts in our community to step out!

Matthew Kelcourse

In 5th grade, I had the lead in the class play (I don't recall) and I adlibbed some lines (to great amusement of others) and Mrs Robinson (coincidence) took me aside, told me how bad I was, how embarrassing it was for her, and I'll never get another roll... ever. Ever since then, I've had a paralyzing case of stage fright; so I've written all pitches since I began a year or so ago.

Ewan Dunbar

Great share Darren. Fantastic to hear that you went for it and had a great response. Some people think that executives like saying no, but the truth is that they're looking for the next project that'll be a yes!

Richard "RB" Botto

Hey Matthew Kelcourse, what a terrible experience. Horrible! I do hope you'll try again. If you get interest in your written pitches, and I have no doubt you will, you'll eventually have to be in a room or on Zoom. By the way, our executives are a hell of a lot more friendly, caring, and collaborative than your Mrs. Robinson.

Richard "RB" Botto

That's a great point, Ewan Dunbar, and one that's often lost - the executives WANT to love your script. Makes their life easy when they can find new material that hasn't been exposed to the world.

Amanda Toney

Absolutely love this Darren Yeboah! Remember, the person listening to the pitch is rooting for you, they want to like you! (and ps - please make sure to upload your photo so we know who we are communicating with! You can do that from your Stage 32 app or on your desktop)

Darren Yeboah. That's great news! I hope everything works out for you. I never pitch here because it costs money, but I used to call producers. Since this is a people business, I prefer doing that. I understand why screenwriters love to write and prefer that method. Ultimately, it doesn't matter how you succeed as long as you do.

Darren Yeboah

Thank you all for your kind words and support! I was unsure how to @ everyone so I hope you can see this.

Keep shining!
