Introduce Yourself : Rockin' 3 scripts at once. by Ron Horton

Ron Horton

Rockin' 3 scripts at once.

For someone who can't read more than one book at a time it's interesting I can work on 3 scripts at once. I guess that's my ADHD kicking in. :) I write a variety of themes but many of them have a fantasy element to them. Alternate realities always intrigue me so they have a way of creeping into my writing.

Happy to see one of my scripts in a semi, along with one of my loglines. One of my pitches is finally honed to where it needs to be so I guess I'll be spending some money on pitch sessions, and tapping into some I've pre-purchased.

I'm also looking forward to putting my short together and bringing it to a "free" studio near me. It's my goal to gather enough support from local students to put together a 15 minute version of my latest foray into the world of satire/comedy TV. More on that in future weekend updates.

Hope this weather continues like the last day so that I don't feel too wilted to be creative. Hope to see some successes from this community as well. Write On!

Congratulations on one of your scripts being in a semi, Ron Horton! What was the weather like there yesterday? It was rainy here yesterday. I loved it!

Marcel Nault Jr.

That's fantastic news, Ron! Very inspiring. Keep up the great work!

Ron Horton

Maurice Vaughan It as about 72, light breeze, puffy cumulus clouds. A great change from the 90 degree stretch we had.

Sounds like spring weather, Ron Horton. It's supposed to rain here today and throughout next week, so it's gonna be colder than it has been. Guess I'll be listening to rain while I write my spec script that takes place in the rain. Hope you get enough support from local students to put together a 15 minute version of your show! Looking forward to seeing it!

Hey Ron Horton , congratulations on your progress. Like yours, my stories tend to venture into alternative realities. What better way to depict our multi-dimensional experiences? On the other hand, I was at Laguna Seca last week - MotoAmerica Speedbike Superfest. What fun! What noise! I relate to that, too.

Ron Horton

Robin Gregory I've heard that's a good week. I do 2 wheels on pavement but save my racing for the 4 wheels on road courses. :)

Jason Mirch

Hey Ron! I actually think a version of working on multiple scripts at once can be helpful. The way I suggest people write is to write one script start to finish. And instead of going back to revise that script, let it sit and then start on the next. And once you finish that you start on the third one. And then once you finish that script go back to script #1 and start revising. The time and distance from the script will help you see a lot of holes and opportunities for change. And the fact that you have written 2 additional scripts will mean you will have improved as a writer. Not sure if that is your process but I thought I would toss it out there. Happy writing!

Nick Phillips

As much as it might feel like you're spreading yourself thin, writing multiple pieces at once helps structure your writing and lets each script breathe and develop in your mind while you work on another one. Keep it up Ron Horton!

Ron Horton

Jason Mirch Pretty close. I tend to write a script in a night. It may be more like a treatment to some, but it's a very rough 1st draft to me. I can then go back at any time and jump in to see how it's going.

Ron Horton

Nick Phillips Thanks Nick. BTW, great note on front loading the timelines and bringing the daughter forward in the pitch. It went off so much better the next night. Thanks.

Nick Phillips

Ron Horton Oh great, I'm so glad to hear that!! Sometimes those little tweaks can make a big difference!
