Introduce Yourself : A Rare Northern English Writer Appeared! by Alex Winstanley

A Rare Northern English Writer Appeared!

Hello.

My name is Alex and I am from Manchester, UK.

I have been contemplating writing this introduction for several weeks but unsure what to write, which is somewhat ironic.

I wrote my first short stories when I was at high school then didn't write anything for 15 years until I watched a very bad film that I was unnecessarily excited for (Independence Day: Resurgence) and I thought "I can write better than that!".

Another 6 years past and during lockdown I decided to write my first feature have spent all of 3 hours researching how to correctly format a screenplay. I write it. It was terrible, but I got the writing bug.

I decided I wanted to learn more about the industry and what it was like on a film set so I signed up as an extra (Supporting Artist) and got some experience in student films and some TV work.

In recent months I have written my first TV Pilot which I have entered in Film Festivals, where I finished runner up in my category in my first which gave me a huge confidence boost.

I am now in the outlining phase of my next feature and I am very excited to write that one, though I am British so I will not be expressing these emotions outwardly.

I look forward to networking with fellow writers across the world on here and via IG (alex_winstanley_writes)
