Sat night Neo-Noir studying & Cocktails

The Neo-Noir style looks incredible, Chase Cysco! I'm thinking about writing a Neo-Noir. I saved this video to watch again and take notes. Thanks for sharing.

Maurice Vaughan i no same !! maybe we can chop up some ideas together , never no might be better than we imagined (:

Thanks for the share @Chase. Most Neo Noir has a similar definitive style but I also feel Vintage Noir can sometimes cross over into it. Early Noir usually had solved crimes & punished villains either by the law or they themselves orchestrated own downfall whereas in Neo there’s often loose/open ends & tragedy. However characters drowning outside the mainstream appear in both. Also a verisimilitude, a kind of third dimension as innermost sanctums are unplumbed. Photography plays a part in both like twilight zones, dutch angles or psychotic camera pans. Asyndetons too, plot beats jump giving a mystery for audience to solve. The pot holes can feel different from general whodunnits in that world can seem distorted. Sorry I’m rambling LOL

Hey Debbie Croysdale ! I totally agree that there's a unique interplay between Vintage Noir & Neo Noir, each bringing its unique style to the genre. Your points about the differences in plot resolution and the portrayal of characters are spot on. It's interesting to think about how the stylistic elements, like photography and plot structure, create that distinct, almost surreal atmosphere in both styles & also feel like its very much so up to the writer and directors , because i have seen good and bad in both genres lol ......

And you're not rambling at all lol !
