Happy NEW Saturday and weekend EVERYONE! Prayers & Blessings for ALL of US!
It struck me this morning (11:32am here in the great North-West of America) in contemplating, as I tend to do since childhood--- especially with my Inventor Gene...) that, "As I see this unfolding with thee invasion of 'a.i' (Which is nothing more than a Written Program that is as original as M&M's is presently).
--- Does anyone recall the Classic Film "2001 A Space Odyssey?"
In that film there is a Man and a Super-Computer in Space... a space station which the man is controlling.
At some point he gets into 'an actual argument' with his on-board-computer, which has been given the name, "HAL".
It's the first suggestive film that portrays the Terminator Like battle between Human beings and Computers.
This FILM came out in the year 1968. And here we are in 2024 (56 YEARS AGO)

Though there are some good things that a.i can and does and shall do in our lives, there is far worse that it can and does and will do as we move forward.
Think of 'Auto-Updates to your =.our computers, phones, tablets . . . Electronic Devices and how we JUST ALLOW IT TO DO SO WITHOUT SEEING WHAT IT DOES because we are BLINDLY ALLOWING it to Make Changes to our systems IN THE BACKGROUND . . . UNSEEN . . . UNCHECKED as it goes through (WHO KNOWS HOW MANY) files of ours. How DEEP does a.i DIVE into Our Personal Privacy, while 'Claiming to Only Update Specific Programs? While we have GIVEN PERMISSIONS for IT TO DO ANYTHING IT WANTS, when we Pressed thee DO WHAT THEY RECCOMEND BUTTON for UPGRADES-UPDATES etc...
I already have witnessed on my own computer THE CHANGES--- and NOT GOOD CHANGES AT ALL!
A simple example of what's happening--- When the computer STARTS via Our Command to do so--- does it RESPOND INSTANTLY, with a CLICK of the MOUSE or IS THERE SOME HESITATION BEFORE IT ACTIVATES YOUR COMMAND(S)? I have Pressed/Clicked on an ACTION BUTTON to ACTIVATE something, a program and it SITS THERE for 3-7 seconds BEFORE IT ACTIVATES. THAT is NOT a slow computer... mine is SUPER FAST . . . No! What (I Believe) it IS . . . IS--- Thee A.I that has INFILTRATED My Computer System via Updates or Upgrades and is NOW TAKING OVER SLOWLY... THE DECISIONS that 'I' (As the User of My Computer System(s)) have COMMANDED IT TO DO FOR ME! In short... thee a.i is WEIGHING THE SCALE as if to QUESTION My Direction like, "I'm sorry Sir Nicholas, but I am not sure THAT is what YOU want to do. Let ME think about this, and consider ALLOWING you to do something, I have decided you really don't want to do! I may have to DECIDE FOR YOU!"
IS ANYONE FOLLOWING? I dearly hope so. As always a concerned citizen FOR the people... when I see things that are not so easily seen I REACH OUT to SHARE in hopes of keeping OUR Advantage In LIFE!
a.i is NOT A GOOD THING. Just watch and see!!!

counter point: ai without a human in the loop will do only what it is programmed to do. it cannot think nor interpret beyond what it has been given. it’s bias and “generative” approaches are all, 100% based on a prior decision formed by a human programmer. fear it not. THERE ARE NO SENTIENT PROGRAMS. and there will never be.
Hey Eric, great counter . . . for now! :--)) We shall see . . . Do you know 'how' they achieved a.i? In the circles that I dip-my-toes in at times . . . it is stated that, "In order to achieve thee over-reaching goal of Artificial Intelligence (NOTE: They do not refer to it as Artificial Intellect), they (Supposedly) created an ultimate 'Face-Off' . . . One Computer, Questioning Thee Other and back again . . .
How do you supposed they Answered each other without Human Interaction?

I do like chatting about the future of tech. my 9-5 depends on technology improving, including selling tools for people to make systems faster/smarter.
even this test was bias- two computers would not question each other unless instructed to do so.
even the language created (short cuts and fragments) was because the programing in response was to optimize and interact based on tokens of otherwise known/expected responses. something that is based on thousands of years of human knowledge of how language works. programmed.
Machine Learning is 100% something else. A machine can make decisions on data much faster then a human, and can make a series of decisions based on possible outcomes, to a degree of certainty that will lead to Autonomous driving/medical procedures etc.
nothing artificial about it.

And you will know that it is simply--- Basic Computer Programming with a New Fancy-Catchy sounding name to DRIVE IT. LOL! Tisk tisk tisk Geeks! You really should know BETTER by now! Some of us are actually puter experts behind the scenes. Not me of-course winks grinningly! . . .
Yes! You have stepped into a Positive where puters are concerned (In my humble opinion).... The SPEED in-which They Get Things/Tasks Done! SUPER FAST compared to us fingering through the pages and lettering everything out in long or short hand. Dontcha just LOVE the good ole . . . "Possible Outcomes!"
When anything is physically achieved there is no such thing as Artificial or maybe's... you reemember the words I'm certain, "What's DONE IS DONE!' . . . yes? :--))
