In 2007 I was cruising from Sante Fe to Los Angeles deep at night. In those days the toyota Prius was something new and it felt like flying a spaceship. During the drive I got a phonecall from woman who asked if I was interested in directing Terminator. Of course I said yes.
Now everytime there are rumours about a new Terminator movie I think back about this phonecall and the ideas I've gathered over the years to direct it.
Yesterday the Hollywood reporter asked Jim about the project as he develops momentarely in all secrecy.
Do you think a new Terminator movie would be a good idea, or is the franchise a little bit passé after Terminator: Dark Fate also known as the sixth and final installment? Is everything possible?

I'd watch another Terminator, Willem Elzenga. I really liked Terminator: Dark Fate.

It's tough to say from looking at the trailer but it looks like "Terminator: Zero" is yet another attempt to reboot. There have been so many. Having said that, I love James Cameron so perhaps he's wanting to start his own series. As long as he sticks with it and the story is good, I'm OK with it.

If Cameron writes and takes the helm, absolutely :-)

Dark Fate was a really good one Maurice Vaughan. We've watched that one repeatedly.

I think it's one of the better Terminators, Leonardo Ramirez. It's my third favorite after Terminator 2 and Terminator.

Same here Maurice Vaughan. I would have grown to like "T:Salvation" had they kept it going.

Dark Fate was, pretty much, Terminator 2 rebooted. I enjoyed it immensely, as I have with Genesis, Salvation, Rise of the Machines, etc. I think that they'd need to come up with a viable replacement for Arnold Schwarzenegger as part of any reboot which is going to be a very tough ask. That, and allow new concepts or angles on the way characters came to be, to be introduced, such as they did in Genesis and Salvation.

I don't remember a lot about T:Salvation, Leonardo Ramirez. I remember one of the movies having a confusing plot. Or maybe I just need to rewatch the movie to understand the plot.

Salvation was focused on John Connor Maurice Vaughan. Judgement Day had already happened and they were in the fight. Skynet had just developed the T-800 (the Arnold model) that shows up in the end. If I remember correctly, "Genesis" was when John Connor went full-on Terminator and becomes a new model himself. That one was pretty confusing. I thought part of the appeal of the first and second movies were their simple plots. Just a lot of chasing.

I think Genesis is the movie that was confusing, Leonardo Ramirez. I'll like to see a Terminator movie where a resistance fighter pretends to be a Terminator and infiltrates the machines' main base to destroy it. And part of the movie could be told from the machines' POV.

This will be a certainly interesting one!

Yeah I like that, Maurice Vaughan. That would make a super cool premise. There would need to be a chase scene somewhere though because that's indicative of any Terminator movie. I can see them chasing him down after they destroy the base.

Yeah, there definitely has to be a chase, Leonardo Ramirez! And they could throw in a ticking clock. The resistance fighter has to get out of the base before it blows while the machines chase him, then they'll keep chasing him after he's out of the base.

That has a John Wick meets Terminator vibe, Maurice Vaughan. Now if a Terminator kills the guy's puppy, you have a franchise.

Willem Elzenga - you asked if a new T movie would be a good idea. My answer: If Cameron writes and takes the helm, absolutely :-) (unless I misunderstood your query).
