Of course it was Dan Aykroyd's idea for the story but it was Ivan Reitman's talent agent Michael Ovitz who set up a meeting with one of my all-time favorite studios COLUMBIA PICTURES, the chairman at the time Frank Price sat down with Ivan, Dan, Harold, and Bill. Well if you recall the script wasn't exactly ready so Ivan the Director did a very strategic move he wisely avoided the story details instead focused on pitching the movie's CONCEPT and it's lineup of bankable comedy STARS. Well Ivan must've said the magic number for the proposed production budget because Price asked and green lit the movie! That is how I'd love to do business these days. The good ol' days of Cinema.
