Introduce Yourself : Happy IYW!! by Sam Sokolow

Sam Sokolow

Happy IYW!!

Hey everyone - it's awesome to meet you all on IYW!

I'm the Director of Certification here at Stage 32. The Certification program is a dream - it's a way to support production communities around the world and give people who want to work in production the skills and avenues to succeed. After a life on set, there's nothing better. If you want to learn more, please email me directly at edu@stage32.com.

I'm also honored to be a 2-time Emmy nominated film & TV producer. The art of producing is something I love to teach, which is how I came to Stage 32 to begin with. I'm a cinephile, a rabid sports fan and an aspiring but terribly inept premiere pro editor. Dare to dream.

I'd love to hear about what you're working on and what you want to accomplish next in your creative career.

Maurice Vaughan

Hey, Sam Sokolow. I start back on an old feature script today. My goal is to finish that script. And my goals at the start of 2024 were to sell one or two feature scripts and read more scripts. I've been networking and pitching to reach my first goal, and I've read a lot more scripts this year. What are you learning pro editor for?

Leonardo Ramirez

Howdy Sam Sokolow ! Congratulations on your nominations and successes. As far as what's next...I just finished up a pitch deck for "The Book of Jon: A Blade of Saints & Angels" that I loaded up to my profile. I did that after I finished the script. So honestly, kind of pondering on what's next.

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations on finishing the script and pitch deck, Leonardo Ramirez!

Bill McCormick

Wow, I feel like I'm hanging with the cool kids now.

Leonardo Ramirez

Thanks Maurice Vaughan! And here's to you selling your scripts!

Geoff Hall

Sam Sokolow all hail, Sam! It’s good to see you on the IYW.

What am I working on at the moment? Well, I’m setting up my own production company (again). I had to dissolve the last one - a long tragedy of a story, thanks to a scurrilous EP - and so having started this process again, I find it’s strange how many ghosts are conjured forth when I am taking the first steps!

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, Leonardo Ramirez. Thanks! Here's to you selling your script and your other projects!

Leonardo Ramirez

Bill McCormick - you're one of the cool kids founding members.

Sam Sokolow Hi Sam! I started in Hwd in the late 80's to early 90's thinking I was going to be either an actor, writer or producer. Ended up running around in theater for the last 4 decades, and now Im "back to one" as a screenwriter. Ive got oodles of creative babies ready to either be birthed or start school. Nice to meet you!

Sydney Summers

Nice to meet you Sam :)

Guinotte Wise

Hi Sam, from Kansas where the bales are round and the people are square and some of the welders are poets. And novelists. We have talked during a seminar--good one, too. G

Sydney Summers

Guinotte, are you from Kansas or currently there? I grew up in Kansas City!
