Introduce Yourself : Equality in the film industry by John Paul Kedi

Equality in the film industry

Hello,

Am Paul (Jepaul) a young African ambitious writer with many names hopping to the creative world of screenwriting. Am currently wondering how we can create a non- discriminatory industry for people from different parts of the world

Geoff Hall

John Paul Kedi hi Jepaul, welcome to the Stage32 community and the IYW! ‘How can we create a non-discriminatory industry around the world’?

Well ‘RB’ is the founder of this community and his intent, was and still is, to democratise the film and TV industries. It is not a community that discriminates on the basis of your ethnicity, sexuality or gender, or I should add, nor your age. In a nutshell, it’s purely down to talent and the relationships you/we create, that will help you thrive in this business.

What are you working on at the moment?

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, John Paul Kedi. I second what Geoff Hall said about Stage 32. Also, we can use our scripts, movies, shows, etc. to shine a light on discrimination so it happens less and less in the industry and other areas of life.

And it's true Maurice Vaughan, my current project is a musical novel criticising discrimination in the music industry and how it affects the life of a young talented singer. Hope it 'll come to the screen one day.

Pat Alexander

Sounds like an awesome project John Paul Kedi! Keep pushing and you can make your dreams a reality!

Sam Sokolow
