Hello, everyone. Basically, about myself, I embarked on writing a screenplay after ten years of inactivity in that area. While working regular jobs, I had conjured up about 13 feature-length scripts previously, with my last previous spec work for a small prodco to pitch as a movie project, and two drafts of a one-hour pilot for them to pitch at a marketplace convention.
I had a Facebook account for about 11 years. Around 2018, I contacted a fellow I had "friended" who had lived what I felt was a story the public should know about. At some point, I suggested he really needed to have a book out about his life, and offered to work with him and write it. He accepted, and the results were very helpful, as he already had written about a 40-page summary for personal reasons.
I conducted Skype interviews and email exchanges with him about his background and life experiences, and fleshed it out with a bit of research into the times being described, to slightly three times the length and what I felt was an interesting kind of "everyman makes good on his American dream" kind of story. But the events we were relating had a nightmarish climax, which was the part of which I really felt the public should become aware.
Currently, having recently completed an adaptation to screenplay which held close to selections from the book material, I decided to take advantage of a service, kind of pricey, offered by another member site, something they call an "accelerator" program. I'm pleased to report the first tele-session coming out of that purchase was thorough, thought-provoking, supportive, and motivating.
