Back in the summer of 2022, I was introduced to this book called “ She Drives Me Crazy”. A Teen , Sapphic Rom Com . It’s already becoming a pop cultural phenomenon. What I liked about it is reminded me of the classic John Hughes Teen movies in the 1980s. Which is why It gave me an interest to make this into a movie. I already have the vision of the movie in my head from start to finish. And the fans of the book already fancasting Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) as the character of Scottie and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (Never have I ever) as Irene . Who are the two lead characters you see on the book cover .
Now the author Kelly Quindlen was kind enough to talk to fans on her DMs on Instagram. I didn’t Tell her that I wanted to make the movie because she thinks I have the resources to do it so I just told her this need to be a film. And she was very nice that she liked my comment . I even posted stuff on social media about it and she like that as well. I think she really does want this to be a movie. She even mentioned that she wants to two actresses that I mentioned to play the parts of Scottie and Irene.
I even interacted with Maitreyi Ramakrishnan on her twitch . I mentioned the book in the chat box And she said she would be interested if they plan on doing it but she hasn’t read the book. Sadie sink has not mentioned anything about the book whether it’s interviews or social media.
I have written the first scene for the movie but I would love to find some co-writers so, we can write this online like zoom or something .
I want direct and produce this myself. So, I hope to make some more money to get my production company going so I can make it. If any of you guys care to help me with this by crowdfunding for my production company Or help me with the co-writing. Let me know. I hope to get this made.
