Pitch decks

Hi everyone! I need some advice and would welcome any input.

After trying to find somebody to help me build pitch decks for my TV and film scripts, I got bids ranging from $1000-$3000 per pitch deck, which was outside of my budget.

Then I tried Fiverr, but unfortunately, I got ripped off by someone who’d stolen another artist's work and pawned it off as their own, so I wound up with a really bad/unusable deck for my money.

I’d read online that agents/managers expect pitch decks with scripts and noticed that most of the posted gigs open to non-union screenwriters requested them too.

Out of frustration, I figured out how to create my own pitch decks, which helped me get my foot in the door with a couple producers.

I recently launched a website to create pitch decks for other screenwriters at a rate of $400 for an 8 page deck in 10 days.

Does that price sound reasonable?

Should I offer packages for multiple decks at a discount?

Should I offer promos to fellow members of sites like this one and ISA?

Grateful for any feedback! Thank you! https://filmandtvpitchdecks.com/

I think for something pretty simple that sounds fine, but then again how much are we leaving out only going with 8 Pages? Title, Logline, synopsis, multiple characters, theme, genre, audio style, visual style, comps, financial page, contact page, writer bio, etc. Seems like 8 pages would be a very basic pitch deck, but if thats all a client wants then I suppose that works.

Don't underprice yourself. A pitch deck is supposed to help a writer get a multimillion dollar project pitched, so I think 1500 is very reasonable if it is well made. The other question is what is your time worth to you?

Hi, Brett Block. $400 for an 8 page deck in 10 days sounds reasonable, but it depends on how much work you have to do on each page. Maybe add a note that the the price depends on the level of difficulty of the pages.

And I don't see a lot of 8-page pitch decks. I usually see feature pitch decks that are 10-15/16 pages and TV pitch decks that are 15-20ish pages. Some pitch decks will be longer if they have more details like filming dates and financial information, but that's usually for filmmakers who are using pitch decks to get funding or get producers or actors on board their projects.

Offering packages for multiple decks at a discount and offering promos to fellow members of sites like Stage 32 and ISA could help you get new customers and returning customers.

All good points! Thank you!

Between getting coverage, entering contests, registering scripts, etc.., I couldn’t afford $1000+ per deck for the numerous screenplays I wanted to submit and I thought other writers may be in the same boat, so I wanted to offer a more affordable option that didn’t compromise on quality.

You’re spot on that some writers may want/need longer decks, so extra pages are only $35 each.

I really enjoy designing the decks and I like the idea of connecting with other screenwriters about their scripts - it’s a fun way to network! I thought it could be a win-win! :)

You're welcome, Brett Block. That's generous of you. I started making my own pitch decks for the same reason, and I lower my prices sometimes to help out fellow creatives. It's tough out here for creatives.

Great minds! :) It’s such a challenging industry and we have to help each other when we can. Really appreciate the feedback!

Hi Brett! I don't do pitch deck documents, but I do illustrated posters and concept art for lookbooks, pitch decks/bibles in case you need visual art! ;)

Hey Kiril! Do you have a link to the ad?
