Hey everyone. Hope you are doing well. When entering a screenplay to a contest, is it against etiquette to include a little bio about yourself and why you wrote your screenplay? (ie. I write about protagonists with disabilities because I have a disability and know what it's like living with one.) Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Go for it, Kevin!

It's usually not super necessary to include a bio when entering a contest, but having clear bios on your profiles (here and across social media) can help share your story and be a banner for what's important for you in your writing.

No. Just the script.

Just submit the script. On platforms like Filmfreeway, you can add your bio on your profile page.

Unless they specifically say otherwise just submit the script. Some festivals will even tell you that anything more than that will get you disqualified.

Agree with the other folks here Kevin Enners. Just the script for the submissions, but find and utilize the other avenues in these processes which allow you to share your bio. It's always interesting to hear the why behind a writers decision to tell their story.

Including a brief, relevant bio can add personal context to your submission, but if they don't ask for one, let the script speak for itself!
