Told y'all I was working on catching up!
My favorite networking story comes from almost 15 years ago. I was fresh out of high school and in my first semester in college when a dear friend mentioned that he had a friend doing a web series and that he was looking for actors. I'd done a little acting in my younger days and he encouraged me to audition for the role.
It took a few months to wear me down but finally I agreed to the audition. I think part of me assumed that his friend would pass on me and that would be the end of it. What ended up happened was that set me on a journey that would last five years. The show never saw the light of day.
If you want that story in detail, I did a post on the blog here. https://www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-know-when-it-is-time-to-walk-away-fr...
But, that was what set me on the path to write for television. I had never considered it before then. Not only that, but that was how I was introduced to Stage 32. I know I lurk more often than not. But I've learned so much for all of you.
And it started by that one connection.

Thanks for sharing your networking story, Mary Helen Norris. All from one connection. That's why I don't like passing up on networking opportunities, even if they seem small.

Right! I don't even look at it as a failure because I learned SO MUCH from the experience. It's one step in my journey.

Loved your blog post. 100% agree walking away doesn't diminish the lessons you learned. Thanks for sharing!
