Japan's Yoshimoto Kogyo and Fany Corp have launched a Fany D one to three minute drama app four years after Quibi closed down.

I wonder if they'll be producing any anime Amanda Toney.

Amanda Toney I think it's great for filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, etc. who want to make/work on vertical short form projects. I want to write them. Maybe other countries will start familiar platforms.

another tik Tok just what the world needed

A friend of mine was hired to direct some of these Vertical Shows. Interesting.

Lynelle Paulick

And boy are they showing up on Actor's Access recently!! Sometimes that's all there is in the (public) breakdowns! I submit if they pay well, which a few do, but the ones I've read for so far are just not very good writing and appear to be heavy soap opera–based material. Also "interesting." Does anyone here have experience in working on these projects??

Ashley Renee Smith

It’s not my favorite format for scripted story content. But I get that it’s interesting to some people. I hope that they’re successful and that the creators who put in their time and work, are happy with the final product and response to it. I just know that it’s harder for me to personally engage in a vertical format for narrative short-form.

Arthur Charpentier

Tik-tok is the largest and most successful vertical video platform. I don't know how other platforms can compete with it.

Debbie Croysdale

Fan of “shorts” platforms not just from a director’s point of view to advertise skills but some audiences have limited viewing time. “Commuter watch” nuggets to invest concentration for a mere 5/10 mins have grown last ten years EG Facebook Watch albeit App now gone. This new group may have different rules for account holders & navigation of the site than say Tik Tock but that does not mean calibre of film content any the less.

William Joseph Hill

Hard to say how this will turn out. I think that if they come up with a compelling storyline and characters that resonate with audiences, then it may catch on. But Quibi taught us that just putting celebrities and branding with a new technology isn't good enough. And I don't think the masses are going to be lured away from TikTok anytime soon, especially since all the other video platforms are trying to copy them.
