Imagine walking down a dark corridor of stairs with a tiny flashlight only able to illuminate the very next Step. That’s it. That’s all. And you walk up and down flights of stairs like this. This feels like the Screenwriting process to me.
It’s mentally exhausting while simultaneously feeling like you’re on the best roller coaster ride ever.

Mentally exhausting is SUCH an accurate description. Sometimes I can feel myself aging as I write, because every script takes something out of me. A trade, if you will. There is an emotional cost for creating these worlds and I can totally understand why at his age George RR Martin now says he isn't sure if he'll ever finish Winds of Winter. =-/

But sometimes a random door opens and there is a bright, beautiful light in that you spend weeks following. It's worth the wait.

If it were easy, the rewards wouldn't be as great. Embrace the ride and always take a moment to enjoy the sun when the clouds break.

Eric,
I love the visual u present. I experience that every night when I take my dogs out, using my flashlight to focus on their location and if they did their business before going back to the house.
Thanks

Apt description,...why it's always best to know the staircase and every step so you're never truly navigating in the dark.
