Introduce Yourself : UK Indie Filmmaker Al Carretta by Al Carretta

UK Indie Filmmaker Al Carretta

Hello Stage 32 Creatives!

My name is Al Carretta and I am an independent filmmaker from Kent, England. I work on no-budget/total spends and get things done consistently on available resources. Since 2010 I've written, produced, directed and supervised the distribution and release of 24 independent feature films including recent projects 'Twenty Two Presence' (2023), 'Thirst' (2024) and 'It Starts In This Room' (2024).

I've seen my content released across the World on streaming channels such as Amazon Prime, Apple TV and Tubi. My genre films 'The Devil Made Me Do It' (2012, mafia) and 'The Judge Of Harbor County' (2021, western) both made their money back multiple times over despite only ever having organic marketing. I champion this method; quality sells anywhere. For wider exposure I launched the Nightpiece Film Festival in the 2014 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 2025 this goes into its 11th season and has so far showcased over 350+ films from directors across the World.

Currently, bottom rung indie film in the UK has never been so tough but I'm just going to continue doing what I do!

In 2025, I'm looking to catch up and complete my current slate of feature projects. Diamond heist thriller, 'Ash Grey Blonde' and supernatural western 'The Judge Of Harbor County Part II' have been pushed down the production list many times and are now set to go whilst newly written 'Gridlines' - about an arrogant killer whose re-emergence at the scene of his crimes 25 years later leads to his capture - is announced as my 25th independent feature as this demands a Winter shoot.

Keep filming!
