5 Ways to Make your Film Set More Sustainable

Sustainability matters on set - here are 5 ways to create an eco-friendly production:

1. Minimise Single-Use Plastics : Replace water bottles with reusable ones for the crew.

2. Digital Scripts : Reduce paper waste by using digital tools for #FilmScripts and #CallSheets.

3. Eco-Friendly Lighting : Switch to energy-efficient LET lights.

4. Reuse and Recycle Sets : Recycle old set materials and props instead of discarding them.

5. Green Transportation : Opt for carpooling or electric vehicles when possible.

Share your thoughts and give us useful tips on how to make a film set more sustainable.

Great tips to create an eco-friendly production, Vincent Weberink! And reusing and recycling sets can save money.

Thanks, Maurice Vaughan Reusing and recycling sets is a great way to save both money and materials—plus, it’s a fun challenge to get creative with repurposing props.

@Dan spot on—leadership sets the tone. Maybe another tip should be “Lead by Example”—when directors and producers make sustainability a priority, the whole crew is more likely to follow suit.

You're welcome, Vincent Weberink. Yeah, I think it'd be a fun challenge to get creative with repurposing props, like turning Action movie props into Sci-Fi movie props.

Also, if you've got safe left-over props food or hero food from a food commercial, there are a number of places to donate that. Offering it to cast and crew to take home is also appreciated.

Terrific ideas, Pamela Jaye Smith!
