I don't know if the student reviews in this article are really all that brutal.
Take this one for example: “Terrible sense of humour. Overarchingly misandric. Stupidly affected. Does not care about you personally, just her own strict, unflinching ethos. Did not instill me with a love for film. Her dog’s nice though”
I mean, it sounds brutal, but it comes off to me as a typically silly "sophomoric" student review. "Overarchingly misandric?" Risible. "Did not instill me with a love for film?" Come on. Try taking a film class because you love film, not expecting to be convinced film is worth loving.
Anyway, if you've ever got reviews for your work, teaching or otherwise, then you've likely had some rough reviews. What the article doesn't do is provide a context, such as what are the positive reviews like? Did anyone love her class. Far Out is apparently not interested.
Honestly, I would love to take a class from her. Of course, maybe she's not a great teacher. Shrug.
