Animation : This is hands down one of the coolest things I’ve seen all month! by Ashley Renee Smith

This is hands down one of the coolest things I’ve seen all month!

The Corridor Crew just dropped a video titled “I 3D Printed Every Frame of this Animation” and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Daniel and Wren challenged themselves to make a stop motion film where every single frame is a physical, 3D printed model kit. The result is a beautiful blend of digital artistry and tactile craftsmanship that pushes the boundaries of what stop motion can look like.

Whether you’re an animator, stop motion fan, 3D printing geek, or just love ambitious creative experiments—this one’s worth a watch. The process is wild, and the final product is incredibly satisfying.

Let’s talk—what are your thoughts on merging digital and physical mediums in animation like this? Would you ever take on something this ambitious for a short film or personal project?

Maurice Vaughan

That's incredible, Ashley Renee Smith! The film The Corridor Crew made is like a Stop-Motion Toy Story. I like the idea of merging digital and physical mediums in Stop-motion. And using a model kit cut out A LOT of waste. Thanks for sharing the video!

Leonardo Ramirez

Holy smokes Ashley Renee Smith - printing every single frame! He's right - that requires gobs of patience. Still looks fun though!

I thought about Toy Story while watching the video also, Maurice Vaughan!

Patience that definitely paid off, Leonardo Ramirez! =)

Kevin Jackson

I saw this today. Pretty kool.

Cyrus Sales

Ashley Renee Smith I applaud anyone who has the patiences for stop motion lol. It's cool to see creatives pushing the boundaries and exploring different ways to create.

Bob Harper

This is fun. The irony of CG is that it should've destroyed Stop-Motion, but it destroyed traditional hand-drawn animation instead, at least at the big studio level.
