New Film and Media Composer here!

Greetings, Stage 32 community!

Just found this platform! My name is Seth James Norris, and I am a Composer for film, television, audio dramas, etc., based out of Kansas City. Excited to meet all of you! Putting my website up here for ease of scrolling lol: https://www.sethjamesnorris-composer.com

If you can't tell from my picture, I am a HUGE nerd and love DnD, Sci-fi, fantasy/adventure, Parentheses, and a little bit of horror (anything related to analog horror or liminal spaces). Creating new soundscapes and themes for characters and worlds is one of my favorite things as a composer. I love hearing about new stories and worlds and enjoy working with directors to shape those worlds sonically through my music.

I have a Bachelor's in Film Scoring and a Minor in Film. I have directed and produced a couple of short films (which you can find on my YouTube channel). However, I mainly focus on scoring music to picture (or audio). I have composed for many projects, including a few short films, a couple of podcasts, an audio drama, some YouTube videos, and a feature film! I have one award to my name in the BLASTOFF 2023 Film Festival for best score on a student film for my work on a found-footage horror short film called Liminal by Elizabeth Scott. (Because there are so many movies called "Liminal" out there, it's helpful to give the director's name)

I have a small amount of experience in sound design and hope to eventually work on some projects doing that as well.

I am currently in the middle of a couple of projects, but I am eager to find and potentially work with passionate directors, filmmakers, and visionaries around here on Stage 32!

P.S. I adore audio dramas, so if you need music for an audio drama, feel free to reach out. Even if you don't need music, still reach out so I have an outlet to nerd out about audio dramas!

See you around!

Stage 32 has a Composing Lounge, and Rob Lowry is having an AMA in that Lounge about Using Music as a Narrative Tool. The AMA's all day. www.stage32.com/lounge/composing/Ask-Me-Anything-AMA-Wednesday-3-26-to-T...

Ashley Renee Smith

Welcome to Stage 32, Seth Norris! Your energy and passion absolutely shine through, and it’s fantastic to have another audio drama and genre storytelling fan in the community. Your love for crafting sonic worlds and character themes is such a powerful asset, especially in genres like fantasy, horror, and sci-fi where atmosphere plays such a huge role. I definitely recommend jumping into the Composing Lounge and the Post-Production Lounge to connect with filmmakers and fellow composers—there’s a lot of opportunity to collaborate, share tips, and find kindred spirits. You can find the lounges here: https://www.stage32.com/lounge

I also echo Maurice's suggestion about jumping into today's fantastic AMA post with acclaimed music supervisor, Rob Lowry (Companion, Heart Eyes, Novocaine, Cha Cha Real Smooth, etc.)- https://www.stage32.com/lounge/composing/Ask-Me-Anything-AMA-Wednesday-3...

Rutger Oosterhoff 2

Wow, "Flight over Neon City," that was a trip in a trip in a trip, Seth!!

Seth Norris

Thank you, Rutger Oosterhoff 2! Interestingly, that piece is featured on EastWest Sound's website for their Forbidden planets synth library. I wrote that piece only using that sound library in collaboration with EastWest Sounds during my internship with Ryan Thomas back in 2022. I love Bladerunner, so it was a blast to make. I would love to write for more projects like that!
