Producing : Dodging a Bullet by Holly Fouche

Dodging a Bullet

Hey Everyone,

You know that moment when you realize a collaboration just isn’t meant to be? Yeah, I just had one of those “dodged a bullet” experiences. Without naming names (keeping it classy), let’s just say it became clear that the partnership wouldn’t align with the vision or resources for my project, Rescue Team 7.

It’s tough having to let someone go(or be let go in this case lol)! But honestly, I feel a sense of relief knowing I can keep moving forward with fresh clarity and new opportunities. This wild ride of indie filmmaking sure tests your resilience, doesn’t it?

Anyone else have their own “dodged a bullet” stories? Let’s hear them—I’d love to commiserate, share laughs, and learn from all your experiences.

Here’s to the next step in the adventure!

I sure do Holly Fouche with a so called Producer who wanted me to pay him to pitch my film and come to find out he was a crook in Hollywood who got arrest and jailed for fraud. Dodged a bullet for sure. But lost 2k in the process, but it could have been much worse.

Glad you dodged the bullet, Holly Fouche. I've dodged bullets like Neo. :D People who posted ads online for writing jobs. As I read the ads, I realized they wanted too much work done for what they were paying, or I realized they would've been hard to work with by their attitudes in the job posts.

Holly Fouche, It’s never easy navigating those tough collaboration moments, but it’s so true, sometimes walking away is exactly what clears the path for the right people to show up. I’ve had my share of “dodged a bullet” experiences too, and while it stings in the moment, the clarity that follows is worth its weight in gold.

Indie filmmaking really does test your resilience, patience, and people skills like nothing else. But every setback teaches you something about how you want to lead, create, and protect your vision.

Wishing you all the best as you move forward.

Well, I fell for a collaboration that the other person decided to leave and then ask for money for me to get my own rights back. After 10 years of just me, she still has that hold over me. So yes, be aware of who you make a deal with and how it's put in writing. I was dumb.

Dodge the Bullet , I think the Bullet hit me, and in my recovery i healed and dodged a War. Soo I did Pre Production and Meetings set up. We Pitched and we got the contract, due to me. When the Money came, the Other company got their friends in on the projects, and Pushed me out. That was the bullet that Hit me hahaha.

I removed myself from the project and from the team, because I cannot work with people who does not have the same core values like me, and that is Honesty.

So I dodged a war , by removing myself from them.
