Screenwriting : RIP Nora Ephron by Karen Comer

RIP Nora Ephron

Prolific writer and humorist Nora Ephron left quite a legacy. When Harry met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle are two movies I've decided to study, so I hopped over to DailyScript.com to read the first, in an attempt to understand just how great dialogue is written. It looks so simple but I wonder if anyone would have made this movie today, 23 years later. Relationships are just as odd as Harry's and Sally's but does the viewing public want this kind of movie any more?

OMG Yes I just saw this press release on Yahoo. RIP!! She had a good run and I'm sure will be well honored by Hollywood.

Karen Comer

I can't think of too many that come anywhere near what she did - you're right.

John Kava

She was larger than life with a most incisive wit and comedic timing genius.RIP.

Richard "RB" Botto

Couldn't agree more, Karen. Every screenwriter could learn a thing or two by reading some of Ephron's scripts. They may not all be masterpieces, but the structure of almost all of them are air tight.

Mark Ratering

Nora showed us that writer's come from many places. She was a hard news writer and journalist. He genre was love stories. RIP
