Equipment Suggestions for Webseries Show

Hi Everyone, I am fairly new just a few weeks old. (Not Literally) Anyway, I created a Youtube talk and review show. It has done ok yet I want to create a show about my community. I have a laptop with camera and I have a Sony mini DVD camera that does not pick up sound very well. Could someone suggest a good camera that would be suitable to film people in a living room or dining room environment? Thanks. Jewell aka Quepea

Whats the link to your talk show? Would love to check it out.

Hi Norman, here is the link to one of my show episodes. I appreciate any feed back you can offer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwmAKWk-mgw. In this show I give a review of band. I have put this together with a few programs on my laptop and using my webcam.

Nice job Jewell. Why don't you use a good sound recorder to record the dialogue and then edit it in after the shoot? I'm not a sound person so I'm sure there's an engineer beating his head on the desk as he reads this comment!

Thanks Norman and Gerard for the feed back. Since my sony does not have an external mic jack for now I may just have to do closeup shots and later up grade . I agree that the extra post work gets crazy if your short on time.

The Sony I have is the DCR-DVD105. This is a link to what it looks like http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=DCRDVD105&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab Theses were the 1st round with the mini DVD's. I was surprised also when I could no find it. I can plug it into the TV as analog, and watch video. I may just upgrade to a better camcorder that has external Mic jack.

Thanks for the information. Of course I would have to have the only model that did not come with the shoe. I have DCR105, the DCR 305 and 705 are the models that have the show adapter on them. I was so excited when I saw this and was ready to buy until I referenced my manual to see where it was located. Thanks again.

I would go as low as a Cannon T3i or a Nikon d3200 for cameras its easier to transfer footage with an external mic. Also final cut x is more user friendly with power to edit projects quicker and simpler.

Thanks Patrick for the tip. Do you think a mixer is necessary? I have seen some people using a small mixer to capture the video and audio.

For a webasoide talk show. I don't think so. Just don't want the audio to blow out and get a clear recording. You should be looking good in YouTube with that stuff.
