Which Festivals?

I'm currently in the process of choosing which festivals I submit my short film to. Its already submitted to the one I had in mind when making the film so now I need to choose wisely in order to get the most bang for my buck. Obviously it is limited due to cost, so any advice from you guys would be great. I'm trying to go for festivals that it could do the very best in. Here is the film: http://www.virginmediashorts.co.uk/film/2530/vibration

Thanks for the spam post John... It's great to see you put in the effort. Considering I'm not from Michigan and in fact very far from Michigan this was... not very helpful at all actually.

Ahh, sorry my friend! I was hoping that would be of some assistance... We're actually about the be in the same situation as you currently are, and this will be our first time submitting on this scale. Our strategy is to hit all the bigger ones first (Sundance, Tribeca, Cannes, etc) and then work our way down to the smaller ones if the big fish don't bite. Since the rules for the bigger ones are a lot stricter, we figure it's best to go that route, since the smaller ones have easier rules on acceptance... Not super helpful, I know. But that's our experience so far. Keep us posted on what works though! If I run across anything else useful I'll be sure to let you know.

Cheers Erick. Yeah that does seem like the best way of doing it, for sure. I know the big ones usually want world premieres. As mine is currently entered into the festival (above) I wonder if that counts as a being premiered? If it gets through then it will but its technically not in the festival yet - just entered. Hmm. I'm just thinking out loud now.

From what I understand, it's not allowed to be online anywhere, or viewable by anyone... So I think that would discredit it from some. It's kind of unfortunate they do it that way, but I suppose that's the price of being under the big lights...
