Introduce Yourself : Hi, I'm Sean and I can't imagine my life without acting... by Sean O'Connor

In 2008, i was separated after a particularly messy break up involving a 'friend', had been redundant and was at my lowest ebb. I signed up to an extras agency after literally stumbling across an ad on a local recruitment site. From that first yell of 'action' i was hooked by this adrenalin inducing craft and immediately looked to take things further... I signed up to a 3 day intro to on-screen acting course and was asked by the tutor whether i would consider auditioning for the year-long Diploma in On Screen Acting. Having never even acted at school, i had a go with 2 nights to learn the audition script. Next week i was faced with the dilemma of whether to accept the offer of a place on the course. I asked friends what they thought and there was a unanimous 'Go for it!' At the age of 41, i embarked on the course, made some amazing friends and signed to my number 1 choice acting agency, Auckland Actors. Since then i have worked on nearly 30 short films, 3 features, 1 lead role tv commercial, a few theatre projects and landed a guest role with dialogue on NZ's top soap - Shortland Street. I went from an extra on the show to guest part within 3 years. I am about to fly to the States to promote a new live version of 'War of the Worlds,.
