Marketing on Facebook & Twitter

Has anybody used Facebook Ads or Twitter Promoted Tweets to promote their films? Or any other online platform? I'd be interested to hear about your experiences, successes or hard-won lessons. Thanks!

In my 'umble opinion, face-ache is a pain in the arse to advertise on. I've tried several times, and there are so many hoops you need to go through - make sure your business account is linked to a personal account yada yada order-by-the-yada that I thought it would be easier to set myself on fire outside parliament. Not that I did, obviously, for ghosts don't operate computers all that well. Twitter has some merits, but then only if you've got gazillions of followers. As it is, you're limited to following 2001 followers until a certain number of people follow you (I think they're petrified of ham and jam and, of course, spam. as os face-ache)
