Sound recording and using a DSLR

I'm wanting to be able to record sound while I shoot with a DSLR. I know there are problems with lens noise and with the connectors provided on most if not all DSLR models. I know people are recording sound independently and slating but what methods of recording are people using. What's my best bang for the buck.

You need external sound. forget using the camera mic, it's crap. Use a hn zoom with a senheiser mic. If you are shooting in wind,be sure to use a sock. Slate the takes and use the camera mic for synch. A zoom will run two mics (channels) and cost you 300 dollars U.S. Tascam is an alternate device for a similar cost. These recording devices will be ok for indie shorts.
