Hello, everyone. I've been a member here for a little while, and am in awe at the great support that I see from everyone on this site for their fellow creatives. I have directed and produce a few short films and have worked on a couple of indie features. Now is the time for me to dive in on my own feature. I've just completed the script, a horror story in the vein of 'The Possession' meets 'The Good Son'. I am currently trying to put together a budget and will soon be working to gather a cast and crew. Any advice or words of wisdom/inspiration would be greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance.
Best of luck to you - it will be the hardest thing you've ever done.
Thank you, Rachael, for the support. I agree that it's going to be difficult, but I think it will also be one of the most liberating things I've ever done.
Perhaps you could look into "group funding". I understand it can really work. Break a leg on your project!
Chris, thanks for the insight. To be honest, the first post was just to basically introduce myself and to see what kind of response I'd get here. And so far it has been great. To get a little more into the project, my ballpark budget is around $50k, with the hope that I can secure a B or C list actor for the film. If not then the budget would go down a little. I already have the primary location, which accounts for about 80% of the film, and is a million dollar home in Palm Desert. If you are interested somehow, we can certainly talk more.
