Answer: everyone who has ever sustained a career in acting. If you don't feel a sense of contentment, belonging, fulfillment, inspiration, etc, then you won't last long. This industry is the absolute WORST career for anyone, and without those feelings of satisfaction, you will burn out very quickly.
Thank you, Mr. Matthew for giving your comment on the discussion and agreeing on contentment. But, could you clarify more on what you said " This industry is absolute WORST career for anyone. I will be glad to hear from you again. Be Well.
On paper, this career is a ridiculous proposition. For instance, how many auditions should you expect to book, on average? 1 out of 10? That's a pretty darn good booking ratio, at least in the Southeastern market. So, looking at it another way, you are celebrated for a 90% failure rate. You can't say that about very many professions. And each time you fail, you feel like it is something you did wrong. That can be devastating to most people. Then, there is the lack of any sort of ladder in the acting world. In corporate America, there is a logical progression up the ladder throughout your career. Once you've moved from the proverbial mail room up to Senior VP, you will never have to work in the mail room again. However, as an actor, you'll be recurring on a network tv show one day, and then follow that up with a 6-month drought, at which point you'll be praying for a one-liner in a non-union pilot. There are so many negative things I could say about this industry. Dozens of reasons to stay very far away. But for me, even in the face of all that negativity, I love it. I love it every day. I feel like I'm cheating somehow because I can call myself a working actor. So hopefully that explains it better, Nitten.
